THE CENTRE
The Centre building has full changing room and showering facilities including those for the disabled, a cafeteria,
a lift and course training rooms, if required. It is the home of the Northamptonshire Clubs for Young People (CYP),
the Northampton Canoe & Kayak Club and the Northampton Rowing Club.
THE COURSE
Three pumps control the discharge of water down the 300 metre whitewater course allowing the Centre to control
flow rates thereby altering the course’s difficulty and skill Levels required to paddle it. The Centre and whitewater course
will truly be an exciting sporting adventure for the complete novice or the expert paddlers and provide ‘Access for All’.
THE ACTIVITIES
As well as a comprehensive annual activity programme, majoring upon all aspects of the development of canoe sport,
the aim is to provide a varied range of sporting activities both on and off site. This will include the provision of curricular
and extra curricular adventurous activities for schools and colleges focussing upon: Safety, Fun and Learning.
THE LOCATION
Situated on the Bedford Road (A428) on the South East urban fringe of Northampton, with superb access from the M1
(Junction 15), the Nene Whitewater Centre boasts the UK’s first pumped artificial whitewater course. |
