Who we are and what we do…
Clubs for Young People Northamptonshire (CYPN) is a registered children and young people's charity that works to ensure the quality and relevance of youth work for young people in today's society.
CYPN took over the running of the Nene Whitewater Centre on the 1st September 2010. The water sports venue, which was opened by Earl Spencer in 1999 following lottery funding, has been run for the past few years as a commercial business.
CYPN have realised the original intention and returned it to a not for profit organisation, aimed at providing leisure and sporting activities for young people and adults throughout the county and region.
CYPN have three main areas of service:
Support of clubs, supporting volunteers within clubs to ensure they provide a quality and beneficial service to young people
Development of new services by assisting local community members to develop provisions for young people in an area where need has been identified, offering advice and support including youth work training through to legal advice.
Activities programmes for young people in conjunction with our regional network and national association. Programmes are varied ranging from 12 hour music and skate extravaganza to five a side football competition to leadership and personal development training
